Welcome to the Stockton Center for Community Schools! We are a part of the School of Education.
Location: Offices F211 a&b
Purpose: Work with urban schools in creating positive change for schools as well as for their neighborhoods and communities.
How will we do this? We will achieve this through partnering with community groups already at work in supporting schools as well as new partners who would like to join us.
What’s New at SCCS?
1. New Community Partnership Fellows. CP Fellows are undergraduate students who have completed at least one Community Partnership course in Anthropology/Sociology, and have been selected to work with Stockton students in various service learning projects in Atlantic City and the surrounding area. Help us welcome Jennifer Love, Amy Albee, Morgan Truncale and returning Fellow Scott Fisher.
2. Volunteers In Service To America (VISTA) members. College graduates Virginia Ashley and Cheneise Wright will work with Stockton Center for Community Schools for one year – from August 2012 – August 2013. The Hands On Corps VISTA Program focuses on anti-poverty and community empowerment through sustainable solutions and capacity building. Virginia is a graduate from Stockton and Cheneise is a graduate from Rutgers University. Click here for more information about the national Hands On Corps VISTA Program.
